Khidmah seeks local talent in career fairs in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, UAE – 16 November, 2009- Khidmah LLC, Abu Dhabi’s first Emirati-owned and operated services management company,  stepped up its ongoing efforts to attract local talent to its ever growing team of professionals during two career fairs in Abu Dhabi universities last week. Khidmah’s stands at the Abu Dhabi University Fair on November 9 and 10 and the Abu Dhabi Women’s College Fair on November 12 sought to introduce Emirati students to both employment and internship opportunities within the company.

Over 800 male and female students visited Khidmah’s stand inquiring about opportunities in the company. Khidmah received over 500 applications through the career fairs and is currently assessing potential matches with the companies needs in terms of human resources for various departments. The selection process is now ongoing.

Since its establishment seven months ago, Khidmah has embarked on an intensive recruitment drive with the aim of hiring the best candidates in their field. In the first six months of its operation, the Khidmah team grew from 20 to 230 employees with the appointment of a number of industry veterans from the UAE and international markets to key positions within the company.

Emirati students have been at the forefront of Khidmah’s growth strategy. With the aim of promoting  hands-on learning and building professional careers for young Emiratis, Khidmah has developed an internship program for final year UAE national students interested in pursuing private sector careers in services management and real estate. The internship is designed to provide a rounded introduction to working within an expanding company in Abu Dhabi’s real estate industry; offering workplace training in property management, services management, finance and call centre management systems and other aspects of a working in a fast-paced business environment. The first batch of Emirati students enrolled in the program in September.

Sutton Turner, Chief Executive of Khidmah, said:

“As Khidmah continues to grow and expand its portfolio of services, it is extremely important to ensure that our team reflects both our ambition and vision as an Emirati owned and Emirati operated company. We remain committed to enhancing our potential with the best in the pool and to providing ambitious young Emiratis with a professional business environment where they can be trained to become national leaders. We are extremely pleased at the level of interest Emirati students demonstrated in Khidmah at the career fairs in Abu Dhabi University and Abu Dhabi Women’s College and intend to use every opportunity to engage them in the company going forward.”
